OLDER  NEWS  (July 2005)
31st July 05.  Competition time ...  Ya friggin gotta see this one folks!!! ...   best captions will go online :-) - HERE

Glentoran 1  Wrexham 2 -  No Leeper, Sas, or Locky, but half-time trialist Gary Browne, formerly with Man City, scored a late consolation for the Glens after falling 2 goals behind. All about fitness this one.

30th July 05.  Jimmy Brown new Glens manager!  Don't get excited folks, it's the Glens of 'Avon' I'm talking about! Gotta say I'm a little disappointed, had harboured hopes Jimmy would've had a re-think and stayed on as Coylers no. 2. However, I know the man pretty well, and if Jimmy believes he has good reasons for going - then he had to go. Sorry to see him go, but wish the guy every success in his new post ...    except against us of course ;-)

29th July 05.  Wrexham friendly -  Kick-off 3pm tomorrow folks, £8 and £5 in, although I'm delighted to say season tickets are once again valid for entry :-)

28th July 05, 6.30pm.  You'll be delighted to hear that the scum have progressed to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the UEFA Cup thanks to the away goal rule after a 2-1 defeat in Latvia. Congratulations must go to them. Let's hope Portadown can repeat the feat in Norway. Update - Portadown lost 1-0 tonight and 3-1 overall.
Other results of interest - Pétange 1 Allianssi 1 (Allianssi win 4-1 on agg), Carmarthen 5 Longford 1 (Carmarthen win 5-3 on agg), Cork City 0 Ekranas 1 (Cork win 2-1 on agg). Esbjerg (anyone remember them?) won 6-0, & 7-2 on agg.

1.20pm.  Keegs shown the door? -  Nothing official yet, and far as I was last aware he was told a while back he could look at other clubs.

27th July 05.  Good luck ...  to Shelbourne against Steaua Bucharest tonight, ko 7.30 at the 'LIVE' goals link above.
(Shels drew 0-0 at home)

26th July 05.  Updating the site for the new season folks ...  probably take a week or two to upgrade all the pages, headers, players pics etc. Should be ready for the big kick-off on August 13th, so please bear with me.

Shelbourne 4 Glentoran 1 -  Sorry folks, just got home! Anybody wanna buy a weeks holiday next week on the Black Sea, with a return bus to Bucharest thrown in ...    err ...   somethings come up and I won't be needing it anymore ;-(

20th July 05.  Good Luck Glens -  Will be staying overnight in Dublin folks so you'll have to get the result and match report elsewhere til I get home (and depending on the score that may be some time ;-)  Anyways, let's make a helluva racket in Dublin people, there'll certainly be enough of us there and I'm absolutely sure we'll get a response from this team. We did it last year and we can do it again ...    MON THE GREEN ARMY & MON THE WEE COCK N' HENS!
DUBLIN HERE WE COME!!!

19th July 05.  ** TICKET UPDATE -  Ok folks listen up. Glens Secretary Alex McWilliams has asked me to pass this on
... Glentoran supporters will now be able to purchase tickets outside Tolka Park.  Only a handful have been left for sale at our usual ticket outlets, as Shelbourne have requested those not yet sold be returned to Dublin on the Glens bus today for sale outside the ground tomorrow. It means Glentoran fans can now safely travel without tickets, and purchase them from a caravan at the end of Richmond Road (left off Drumcondra Road) just a few hundred yards from the ground.

Still no seat? -  Eastway GSC still have some seats left on tomorrows bus. They will now be doing a stop at Westbourne GSC between 2.30 and 3 o'clock to collect East Belfast travellers. If room is still available when they reach Westbourne they will pick-up last-minute stragglers, but to be safe you are asked to contact Stephen at the number given below.

Kelbie gets one year deal? - It seems Scottish former Rangers Youth and Alloa Athletic midfielder/striker Kevin Kelbie has been given a 1 year deal at the Oval. Kelbie, who played left-sided in our pre-season friendlies against Abbey Villa and Magherafelt, signed for Scottish second division club Alloa from Rangers in November 2002.

18th July 05.  BUSES SOLD OUT -  The Ballymac have decided NOT to run a 4th bus to Dublin this Wednesday. Anyone who has received confirmation of seats though on the first 3 buses - your places are secured.
For those travelling with us ...
Ballymac clubrooms in Wilgar Street will be open from 11am Wednesday morning. Buses will depart at 12 o'clock noon sharp. On arrival in Dublin we intend dropping everyone off on the Drumcondra Road (about 500 yards from the ground) where there are a few pubs, an hotel and various food outlets nearby. Arrangements for return pick up will be confirmed on the day. Check with myself or one of the other members when you arrive at the Ballymac to be allocated your bus.

**As of 5.30pm tonight Eastway GSC still have 15 - 20 seats available, they'll be leaving Newtownabbey at 2pm Weds afternoon but will pick up and drop off in East Belfast. Call Stephen on 07708514402 - don't hang about!

17th July 05.  Buses to Shelbourne ...  Ballymac's 3 buses to Shelbourne are now fully booked. By the amount of emails I've received it would appear there is still a quite a demand, in light of that the club will be making a decision on whether or not to run a 4th coach tomorrow. In the meantime anyone awaiting a response from me please be patient.

5th July 05.  Ballymac's SECOND bus to Shebourne has now sold out! -  As you know the Ballymac have confirmed we will indeed be running 3 buses to Dublin for the Shelbourne game - the first two of which have now completely sold out! However, should demand for seats continue, the club will consider running a 4th, and even a 5th to the game! Priced at £12 return
ALL buses will be leaving the Wilgar Street clubrooms at 12 o'clock noon and returning directly after the game. Seats can still be booked in advance, and will be allocated strictly on a first come first served basis. In light of the high booking costs involved, the £12 fare paid as soon as possible would be very much appreciated. Reservations can be made by emailing me here at the site or contacting a member of the club directly.  Dublin here we come ... "GREEN ARMY"  :-)

Hang in there :-)  Believe it or not folks just getting back home after the Wales trip! Bear with me and I'll update the site soon as I get up to speed. BTW - the Glens beat TNS 1-nil ...  (err ...  we also broke the local ale swilling record :-)

1st July 05.  Only 1,500 tickets for Champions League game -  When tickets go on sale for the Shelbourne game at the Oval, hopefully later tonight, there will only be 1,500 available to Glentoran supporters. Glens fans have been confined to the Main Stand, but although the seating capacity numbers around the 2,500 mark, safety restrictions and 'free' tickets for early season ticket purchasers means there will only be 1,500 seats left for general sale! Priced at £10 and £6 they will admit to the main grandstand upper and lower decks, if you want to secure a seat in the upper deck be sure to arrive at the ground early. Further details will follow in due course.
