Old News - June 2006

28th June 06.  You have gotta be kiddin!  Ok, I've been away a few weeks, but somebody please please please please pleeeeeeeeeaaase tell me ...   that Judas McBride is only training with the Glens coz he's lonely! (This is NOT a wind-up)

Brantwood friendly ...  Start as you mean to go on! Ballymac have a bus going to the Glens very first game of the season this Saturday. Our coach departs the Wilgar Street clubrooms around 12.30pm for the 1.30pm kick-off, and will be leaving directly after the game to be back East around 3.30pm. In good time for the England/Portugal World Cup Quarter-Final at 4 o'clock. All visitors are of course very welcome to come along once again.

Ballymac's Annual European Ballot was this year won by ...  Alastair Craig!  Under the draw rules, as Alastair happens to be a member of the Ballymac and is travelling to Bergen anyway, he is not entitled to the free trip prize, but does however take away a cash prize of £250 (still enough for about 10 pear ciders)! Many thanks to everyone who took part in the competition, and a special thanks to Glentoran captain Paul Leeman for giving up of his time on Monday evening to make the draw. Once again sincere thanks to all, unfortunately there can only be one winner. Apologies for the delay in the draw result folks, only just got back from Germany.
Congratulations also to big Stevie Beattie of the Raven! If you recall, John Quinliven of Childlink donated an all expenses trip to Europe with the Ballymac to Chris Walker's benefit, and it was auctioned off at big Chris's Park Avenue Hotel bash a few weeks ago. Stephen's bid of £250 was successful on the night, and thanks to John he will now be travelling with the Ballymac on a 5-day, 4-night all-inclusive package worth nearly £450!

15th June 06.  Germany calling ...  Ok folks, I'm outta here - next stop Berlin. If you haven't already done so, last chance to order European Ballots online is by close of play tonight (Thurs), after that you'll have to get them off a member in person. By the time I get back we'll all know who the Glens will be playing in the UEFA Cup and be looking forward to another trip to God knows where!  It's hard to believe Dungannon are actually playing in Europe (Intertoto) on Saturday!
Will do a bit of a facelift on the site when I get back, some of the banners are starting to look a wee bit err ...  dated :-(
Anyways, no rest for the wicked eh ... Mon Angola! "Ich bin ein Berliner" Auf Wiedersehen ... (somebody feed the dog :-)
